Join Our Team as an HVAC Maintenance Specialist


At Texas Biomedical Research Institute, we are looking for skilled HVAC technicians at all levels to enhance our facilities department. This role involves performing routine maintenance tasks, diagnosing issues, and executing repairs or replacements of worn or defective components in building systems, machinery, laboratory apparatus, and HVAC systems.

Candidates will need to undergo a federal background check.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular inspections of HVAC systems and facilities, addressing repairs on-site or reporting any malfunctions.
  • Offer suggestions for long-term solutions for HVAC equipment.
  • Execute electrical repairs within the scope defined by local electrical codes.
  • Respond to emergencies by making immediate repairs and adjustments on equipment as part of the Emergency Response Team.
  • Carry out routine preventive maintenance on various HVAC systems and maintain detailed logs of filter changes and types used.
  • Plan and organize work using diagrams, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and schematics.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and determine corrective actions by consulting blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
  • Assist in managing inventory for HVAC repair supplies.
  • Provide 24/7 emergency service on a rotating schedule with other maintenance staff to ensure operational reliability.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
A high school diploma or GED is required, along with advanced certification or licensing in a technical field.

A minimum of 1 year of experience in HVAC repair and maintenance, including mechanical piping, is essential.

A valid Texas Operator's Driver's License with a clean driving record is mandatory.

Candidates with the following qualifications will be given preference:

  • Over 3 years of experience in HVAC repair and maintenance.
  • At least 2 years of training in HVAC trade applications.
  • Certification in Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) handling.
  • Experience in programming and installing Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
