Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Biller/Coder to join our team at TRANSITIONS BUPRENORPHINE CLINIC OF SACRAMENTO. As a Medical Biller/Coder, you will be responsible for processing insurance claims, collecting necessary documentation from clients, and communicating with physicians' offices and hospitals to obtain records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process insurance claims through private insurance and MediCAL/Medicare
  • Note and process all necessary forms from the insurance
  • Assist patients in navigating the billing and insurance landscape
  • Work with doctor's offices and hospitals to obtain charge information and billing details
  • Enter all billing and payment information into the system properly and without errors
  • Follow up with clients and payments, as needed
  • Answer phones, assist clients with questions, take messages, and screen calls
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  • Account for coding and abstracting of patient medical appointments
  • Research and analyze data needs for reimbursement
  • Ensure codes are properly sequenced
  • Analyze, file, and process medical records
  • Keep detailed documentation of any deficiencies or issues with medical records
  • Provide education and training to other coding staff
  • Review and verify documentation
Requirements
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Previous experience with medical coding or billing required
  • Biller and Coding Certification desired
  • Behavior Health Coding required
  • Strong organization skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and able to problem-solve
  • Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines
