This position is anticipated to start in September 2024.

  • Maintaining and repairing government vehicles.
  • Completing maintenance tickets and repair orders in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repairing, rebuilding, or overhauling major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks, or tractors.
  • Diagnosing, analyzing, and troubleshooting vehicle malfunctions and repair problems.
  • Ensuring vehicles are safe and dependable.
  • Performing routine maintenance, including oil changes, fluid checks, and tire rotations.
  • Utilizing on-board computer diagnostic systems and other test equipment.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Work is performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
  • Exposed to disagreeable fumes, cuts, and bruises from using tools in close proximity and hazards of moving vehicles.
  • Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, and smell.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three years of minimum experience in the problem diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a wide variety of light, medium, heavy, and/or specialized automotive equipment and other heavy equipment.
  • Valid and current state driver's license required.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to diagnose mechanical and related malfunctions.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals, references, and specifications.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence, maintenance logs, and order forms.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, power tools, wrenches, diagnostic equipment, and jacks.
