Senior Cost Estimator

A prominent local General Contractor is seeking a skilled COST ESTIMATOR to enhance their expanding team. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in sectors such as Commercial, Educational, and Multifamily construction. This organization is renowned for delivering top-tier projects across diverse industries, making it an excellent opportunity for a seasoned COST ESTIMATOR. Experience in design-build projects from preconstruction through to project completion is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities of the Cost Estimator

  • Develop proposals for both straightforward and intricate Request for Proposal submissions.
  • Examine and provide feedback on all stages of construction documents to ensure adherence to standards throughout the document creation process.
  • Assess and analyze quotes for relevant scopes, ensuring alignment with bid documentation.
  • Capable of providing cost estimates based on preliminary plans.
  • Evaluate vendor proposals to identify scope overlaps and/or omissions/exclusions.
  • Collaborate with consultants to formulate specifications for new initiatives, renovation projects, and retrofits.
  • Work alongside the Pre-Construction team to achieve project objectives by negotiating and awarding contracts to vendors, showcasing adept creativity, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.
  • Draft and negotiate clear Scopes of Work for Subcontractors and Material Suppliers to set explicit expectations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to meet company and departmental objectives.

Qualifications for the Cost Estimator

  • Experience in large-scale Commercial, Educational, and Multifamily projects.
  • Familiarity with building codes relevant to the scope of work.
  • Strong technical knowledge across all facets of building construction, including general trades, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical trades, with a focus on energy efficiency and lean construction practices.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and cost analysis skills when interpreting blueprints.
  • Proficient in utilizing computer and estimating software.
  • Understanding of means, methods, and materials used in Commercial construction to identify the most cost-effective construction strategies for projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of building products, construction specifics, and applicable regulations and quality standards.
  • A great cultural fit, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Estimating experience in Commercial, Educational, and Multifamily sectors.
  • A degree in Construction is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Estimating experience.
