Salary and Benefits

Job Description

As a Power Grid Systems Engineer at ERCOT, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliable operation of the electric power grid. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing engineering analysis and technical support to ensure continuing reliable operations of the electric power grid;
  • Implementing appropriate system modeling, developing tools and procedures to monitor and control the system, performing system studies, analyzing simulated or actual operating results, developing solutions to current or future system issues, and appropriately reporting findings and making recommendations;
  • Maintaining strong data analytic skills and proficiency in Python and SQL programming languages;
  • Collaborating with our Energy Management System team to tune and support Load Frequency Control, Resource Limit Calculator, and Generation to be Dispatched;
  • Analyzing system frequency control performance, Generator, Intermittent Renewable Resource, and Energy Storage Resource monitoring, and Ancillary Service quantification.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience);
  • A minimum of 5 years of job-related experience in excess of degree requirements;
  • Experience as a power system engineer or similar type role (required for upper-level positions);
  • Strong data analytic skills and proficiency in Python and SQL programming languages;
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
