Primary Objective:

Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, procurement, and suppliers to drive a culture of continuous enhancement. Provide technical and quality guidance for all produced items. Ensure that products conform to engineering specifications and standards. Oversee the successful development, execution, and upkeep of all quality systems within Lorenz Engineering, a division of The Salem Group. Supervise Quality personnel, supplier quality, quality hold areas, field returns, and nonconformance documentation.

Role Overview:

  • Establish and uphold inspection protocols for incoming and outgoing products.
  • Develop and sustain PPAP inspection methodologies.
  • Generate Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) and liaise with suppliers and the supply chain.
  • Oversee the quality hold area, which encompasses MRB, Internal Damage, RMAs, and product repairs.
  • Evaluate nonconforming items identified on production lines and facilitate their management.
  • Engage in teleconferences with international suppliers.
  • Recruit, interview, and train team members.
  • Draft and assess control plans, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and other documentation to ensure quality standards are achieved.
  • Administer and manage calibration standards.
  • Accountable for daily, weekly, and monthly quality reporting and updates.
  • Collaborate with production teams, operations, suppliers, and clients to address quality concerns.
  • Lead investigations into customer complaints and failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective action plans.
  • Conduct training sessions to keep QA staff updated on procedures, methodologies, equipment usage, and other techniques.
  • Ensure the department is adequately staffed in accordance with the approved QA organizational structure.
  • Work in conjunction with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to resolve issues related to product designs, specifications, materials, tooling, and production processes that impact quality.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Proficient in problem identification, data collection, result analysis, and conclusion drawing.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and train groups.
  • Capable of implementing enhancements at the production level.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma tools, particularly capability studies.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Awareness of ISO standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple QA special projects concurrently.
  • Competent in generating daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for management.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification.

Desirable:

  • Six Sigma Master or Black Belt certification.

Education/Certification:

A degree and/or Quality Certification (Data Analysis, Quality Process Improvements, etc.) is preferred.
