Unit Secretary/Monitor Technician

The Unit Secretary/Monitor Technician is responsible for a variety of clerical, clinical, and communication tasks within the designated nursing unit. This role involves providing a welcoming reception for patients and visitors while coordinating essential activities to support patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform clerical duties and maintain effective communication within the nursing unit.
  • Assist in coordinating patient care activities and ensure smooth operations.
  • Provide courteous reception and support to patients and healthcare staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
  • Completion of an EKG or Rhythm interpretation course.
  • At least one (1) year of relevant experience as a Unit Secretary and Monitor Technician in an acute care setting is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Proficient data entry and computer skills.

Required Certifications:

  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • AB Certification for ED/Geropsych (if not obtained upon hire, must be secured within a specified timeframe).
  • Successful completion of a rhythm recognition examination.
