Job Summary

The Diesel Mechanic Apprentice - Locomotive Maintenance Specialist will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining locomotives in accordance with company policies and procedures. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and Repair Locomotives
    • Conduct thorough inspections of locomotives to identify potential issues and defects
    • Perform repairs and maintenance tasks to ensure locomotives are in good working condition

    • Comply with company safety policies and procedures

Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Three-year railroad apprenticeship or four years of railroad-related experience or five years of experience in a mechanical field
  • Certifications and Licenses
    • Valid driver's license and insurable by company insurance provider
    • Ability to become a qualified Service Engineer according to Federal Railroad Administration regulations
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and federal and state regulations
    • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
    • Ability to write and update rules and manuals to ensure continuous compliance with all federal regulations
