Job Summary

Delphinus Engineering is seeking a skilled Mechanic I - Shipboard Systems Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Marine Services division, you will be responsible for performing routine mechanical work on U.S. Navy shore facilities, waterborne vessels, surface ships, and/or submarines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform inspections, repairs, modernization, and/or alterations of mechanical systems
  • Use precision measurement equipment, including scales and vernier calipers, to support repairs on pumps, valves, and motors
  • Disconnect and connect mechanical joints, and remove and install various equipment using sound engineering practices
  • Perform duties as Firewatch and assist with cleaning up work areas
  • May be required to travel for work to other locations
Requirements
  • Must have completed a formal related course of study in trade through either a community college, technical or trade school, military training, formal company training program, or an apprentice program
  • Must have 1-3 years of verifiable experience as a mechanic in an industrial environment, such as shipbuilding, ship repair, or nuclear power plants
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, written technical instructions, and manuals
  • Must possess working knowledge of shipboard systems operating requirements
  • Must be able to read and understand material safety data sheets (MDS)
  • Able to follow safety procedures
Working Conditions

The work environment is typically moderate, with occasional exposure to work near moving mechanical parts or working in a confined space. The noise level is usually moderate.
