At Boeing, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Real-Time Software Engineer/Architect to join our team in Hazelwood, MO. As a key member of our P-8 Poseidon - Training Systems - Vehicle Simulation team, you will play a critical role in the development of cutting-edge training assets for the United States and our allies.

About the Role

We are looking for a talented software engineer with expertise in real-time systems development. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing software requirements, design, implementation, test, and maintenance guidance to a team of software engineers
  • Developing and overseeing the implementation of a technical roadmap for maturing product capability
  • Mentoring and supporting the development of less experienced engineers
  • Supporting software engineering proposal activities for current and emerging customers
  • Participating in test, troubleshooting, and release activities to ensure timely software deliveries

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 5+ years of experience developing real-time or near real-time, multi-threaded C++ software on a Linux platform
  • 5+ years of object-oriented software design and development experience using industry standard design patterns, practices, and coding standards
  • 5+ years of software performance analysis and troubleshooting, including memory and network stack debugging
  • 3+ years of experience with unit testing frameworks and implementing unit tests

Preferred Qualifications

We also welcome candidates with experience in:

  • Making and maintaining build system configurations (CMAKE, Make, Ant, etc.)
  • Implementing simulations utilizing published simulation standards (DIS, HLA, NIS, NASMP)
  • Capturing and sharing knowledge with a team at varied experience level
  • Experience with task tracking and configuration management systems
  • Implementing modern software architecture concepts (MOSA, OMS, Open Architecture, etc.)
