We are seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to join our team at Wiegel. As a CNC Programmer, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and adjusting programs on CNC Machines to form precision metal parts and components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read prints and/or drawings to determine manufacturing process and tool requirements.
- Meet with engineering to review machining requirements and 3D machined components.
- Program, edit, and rewrite CNC Controls; perform off-line programming as required.
- Select, check, sharpen, and/or replace cutting tools and electrodes as needed.
- Manufacture or select appropriate work holdings and fixtures.
- Perform mechanical tasks, including loading and unloading vices, fixtures, and parts.
- Establish and set appropriate tool offsets.
- Set-up and manufacture parts from raw material to completion per blueprints, piece prints, and customer specifications.
- Measure in-process parts to conform to blueprint, customer requirements, and tolerances.
- Trim or de-burr parts to customer specification.
- Identify, use, and interpret appropriate calibrated metrology device for piece-part inspection.
- Count, mark, and pack parts.
- Keep work area neat and orderly.
- Continuously review work orders to organize and optimize daily work.
- Receive and understand written and oral instruction.
- Communicate instruction and oversee work performed by lower-level CNC Machinist.
- Communicate all program changes and other work-related issues to supervisor.
- Follow and update all paperwork, job travelers, time records, etc. associated with position.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and TS.
- Perform other job-related functions as assigned by members of management.
Requirements:
- Requires between four and five years of trade school, vocational education, related work experience, or apprenticeship in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to use a variety of Lathes, drill presses, and equipment, including tumblers, air hose, hoists, wrenches, tool-holders, vices, etc.
- Read and understand blueprints, Piece Prints, and GDT.
- Advanced Math skills, including calculation of feeds, speeds, and distances, print conversion, and geometry.
- Understand and use a variety of measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, etc.
- Write, edit, and use CNC computer programs and control panels.
- Distinguish a variety of raw materials, including stainless steel, cold rolled steel, etc.
- Understand machining properties of various raw materials, including 303SST and 304SST.
- Good communication skills, including the ability to receive and give oral and written instruction.
- Ability to work well with others.
- The ability to interface with customers, management, suppliers, and other employees.
- Responsible for the quality of their own work.
Physical Requirements:
- Sedentary position.
- Ability to travel by various public and private transport methods.
- 20/20 vision required with or without correction.
- Use of hands 100% of the workday.
- Ability to stand or walk 25% of the workday.
- Twisting, bending, leaning frequently during the workday.
- Office environment, occasional exposure to loud noises, dust, solvents, coolants, and oils.
