Job Description

R&D Summer Intern

This role will support research and development activities focused on fast-paced and strategic markets within the HHC business unit. You will work closely with the water-based/polymer team in Simpsonville, SC, to prepare, apply, and perform various tests to understand the performance of coating and/or adhesive samples.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis to determine the chemical and physical properties of materials to determine that formulations are able to meet the required targets.
  • Assist with developmental improvements of current products by evaluating new materials, reformulations, and synthesizing new polymers.
  • Fulfill the responsibilities required to maintain a safe work environment when using individual and community workspaces.
Requirements

To be eligible for this role, you must be a rising senior in pursuit of a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Material Science, or a related field. Previous experience designing and synthesizing water-based polymers is preferred, as well as good verbal and written communication skills and aptitude with instrumentation and computers.
