Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at Northwell Health. As an OBGYN Ultrasound Technologist, you will play a critical role in performing ultrasound exams for patient diagnosis and collaborating with clinicians to ensure the appropriateness of studies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for ultrasound exams, positioning them according to departmental standard operating procedures and explaining procedures in a clear and concise manner.
  • Obtain pertinent imaging and diagnostic reports required for correlation with ultrasound exams.
  • Consult with referring physicians regarding patient history and determine the appropriate ultrasound exam required.
  • Set up equipment to administer particular exams in a timely fashion, using technical judgment to ensure accurate results.
  • Perform ultrasound procedures, recognizing the significance of structures visualized in the oscilloscope and differentiating artifacts from normal or pathologic processes.
  • Determine the need for more extensive evaluations beyond preliminary instructions.
  • Observe patients during entire examinations, recognizing and reporting any changes in patient condition or motor abnormality complaints.
  • Document image details and labels studies, maintaining records and logs of exams performed.
  • Perform frequent calibration checks and adjustments on ultrasound equipment, troubleshooting mechanical problems as necessary.
Requirements
  • Vocational or technical school diploma required.
  • One of the following credentials required: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), or Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS).
  • 1-3 years of technical experience required.
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) required.
Additional Information
