Research Scientist

The Montana State University, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Crop Variety Testing Research Scientist to join our team at the Central Agricultural Research Center (CARC).

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the crop variety testing program at the CARC and associated off-station locations, collaborating with plant breeding faculty, crop and soil scientists, and other agricultural experts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct the crop variety testing program at the CARC and associated off-station locations.
• Collaborate with plant breeding faculty, crop and soil scientists, and other agricultural experts to develop research and education priorities.
• Conduct research and outreach in semi-arid regions, interacting with farmers, extension educators, and other agricultural groups.
• Develop and implement agronomic field research, including planning, designing, and managing trials.
• Secure extramural funds from state, regional, and national sources to support the position.

Requirements:

• BS in crop science, agronomy, or a related plant discipline.
• Experience conducting crop variety testing or breeding trials.
• Documented experience in operating field research equipment.
• Ability to work effectively as a team member and provide leadership from planning through delivery stages of a project.
• Post-baccalaureate (graduate) training in crop science, agronomy, or a related plant discipline.
