Job Title: Medical Assistant - OB/GYN

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our OB/GYN department at The Brevard Health Alliance Inc. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Job Summary

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for performing various administrative and clinical duties, including preparing patients for exams, taking vital signs, and assisting with minor procedures. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, communicating effectively with patients and healthcare team members, and adhering to strict confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for exams and procedures, including taking vital signs and recording medical histories
  • Assist with minor procedures, such as injections and wound care
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including electronic health records
  • Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members, including answering phone calls and responding to messages
  • Adhere to strict confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines, including protecting patient information and maintaining secure storage of sensitive documents
  • Perform routine laboratory tests, including EKGs and blood draws
  • Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the provider
  • Assist with patient education and counseling, including providing information on health and wellness topics
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance patient care
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in medical assisting or related field preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program or one-year verifiable experience as a medical assistant
  • National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) accredited medical assistant certification or registration
  • Current BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA compliance, and basic clinical exam procedures
  • Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMRs)
