Senior Physician Assistant

NYU Langone Hospital - Brooklyn is a leading healthcare institution seeking a highly skilled Senior Physician Assistant to join its Cardiothoracic Surgery team. As a key member of the department, you will provide exceptional patient care, work collaboratively with surgeons and other healthcare professionals, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Provide diagnostic and assessment services to patients in the Department of Surgery, utilizing a problem-solving approach to obtain detailed histories and perform physical examinations.
- Develop and implement therapeutic regimes or protocols, in accordance with institutional guidelines and in consultation with attending physicians.
- Monitor patient responses to treatment, notify attending physicians of changes in condition, and consult with specialists and medical preceptors as needed.
- Document all patient encounters, including assessments, progress notes, treatment rendered, patient teaching, follow-up, and referrals.
- Maintain accurate unit records, reports, and statistics for administrative purposes and reimbursement.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the State of New York.
- BLS and ACLS certification required upon hire.
- DEA certificate required.
- At least 5 years of experience working in a high-volume cardiac surgery program, with a minimum of 5 years acting as first assist in surgical cases and primary vein harvester.
- Experience with radial artery harvesting, with a strong preference for candidates with demonstrated proficiency.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
