Job Summary:
The Aspiring Welding Specialist will be responsible for laying out and welding pole sections in preparation for welding. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work accurately and efficiently under tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Laying out, aligning, and welding fabricated metal products used in electrical poles, substations, and other structures.
- Working under the guidance of others to fit components together in the shop from blueprints, in preparation for welding.
- Welding structural units as required.
- Performing repetitive types of welding operations according to procedures established by others and using hand tools and measuring devices in the performance of work.
- Working under conditions with accurate performance and completion of work within set time limits.
- Accountable and responsible for essential tools and equipment provided along with the maintenance of these tools and equipment.
- Actively participating in department safety, demonstrating excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a weld test (1G).
- Able to read blueprints to properly fit up product.
- Ability to calculate formulas using basic mathematics and standard U.S. and Metric Measurements.
- Knowledge of quality requirements and standards.
- Ability to prioritize work in order to complete deadlines. Must also be able to work through problems with the minimum amount of assistance from the lead-person or the supervisor.
- Ability to work timely and expeditiously to deliver an on-time result without errors.
- At the end of 90 Calendar days, the candidate must be able to maintain an acceptable level of production, quality, and attendance as determined by Management.
Compensation and Benefits:
The estimated annual salary for this position is $45,000-$55,000, depending on experience.
