Job Title: Swim Instructor

At the Channel Islands YMCA, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Swim Instructor to join our team. As a Swim Instructor, you will be responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive environment for students of all ages and skill levels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of students, focusing on stroke progression and water safety.
  • Communicate effectively with families and caregivers to provide updates on student progress and program information.
  • Conduct swim assessments, evaluations, and certificates of completion to ensure students meet YMCA standards.
  • Identify and correct incorrect swimming techniques, adjusting teaching methods to meet individual needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of class attendance and ensure participants are safely released to caregivers.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and foster connections with members, promoting a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Participate in in-service trainings and maintain certifications to ensure professional growth and development.
  • Support the annual campaign process, educating members on the importance of giving back to the community.
  • Understand and report situations of elder and child abuse, adhering to YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the safety of children in facilities and programs, providing proper supervision and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; valid work permit required if a minor.
  • Previous experience working with children or in a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a criminal record clearance, if over 18 years old.
