About the Role

Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Medical Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our ambulatory care team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our pediatric patients and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Provide Direct Patient Care: Assist with rooming of patients, vital signs, heights and weights, and any applicable screening questions.
  • Support Clinical Tasks: Prepare correspondence, documents, reports, and other materials as needed. Schedule appointments and provide follow-up and reminder calls.
  • Collect and Report Data: Collect and report data to licensed professionals, including any abnormal findings and document all findings in the medical record.
  • Administer Medications: Administer only medications approved for a Medical Assistant to administer at Nationwide Children's.
  • Act as a Preceptor: Act as a preceptor for orientation and training of new staff, float staff, and students as directed.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred. Successful completion of a Medical Assisting training program that holds National accreditation from one of the two following national accrediting organizations: CAAHEP or ABHES.
  • Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and follow HIPAA requirements. Computer familiarity and literacy with general data entry.
  • Experience: In lieu of an accredited medical assisting program, five years of experience taking blood pressures, temperatures, respirations, pulse, height, and weight required. Previous Medical Assistant experience in the pediatric setting highly desirable.
