Cardiac Sonographer Associate

The Cardiac Sonographer Associate will play a vital role in our pediatric cardiology team, performing routine clinical echocardiographic studies for congenital heart disease on patients ranging from neonatal to adult. Under supervision, the successful candidate will receive mentoring and training to develop proficiency, competency, and knowledge in the field of pediatric echocardiography.
Responsibilities- Perform clinical echocardiographic studies on newborns to adults for congenital heart disease with a routine degree of difficulty.
- Complete echocardiography studies strictly following departmental sequence and protocol.
- Prepare preliminary summaries of the echocardiography findings for cardiologist interpretation, providing documentation of observed echo findings.
- Perform routine transthoracic echocardiograms on pediatric patients and may perform transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) in the catheterization (cath) lab and operating room.
- Under supervision, learn and perform special procedures as ordered, including contrast and microbubble studies, transplants, Tissue Doppler imaging (TDI), and research echocardiograms.
- Track and document ongoing training and self-study for quality improvement, maintaining a registry of credentials and certifications.
- Maintain clean and safe practices, procedures, equipment, and work space to contribute to a healthy patient care environment.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, Associate degree, or graduate of an accredited formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Technology Program.
- Experience: Preferred specialized course work (or equivalent) in pediatrics.
- Certification(s): Obtain the Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS); or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential within one year from the date of program graduation.
- Pediatric Registry required within 12-18 months upon hire: Pediatric Echocardiography (PE) through ARDMS or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) through CCI.
- BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire.
