Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Optometrist to join our team at the Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC). As an Optometrist, you will provide comprehensive eye care services to patients throughout the SEARHC region, working closely with our Associate Medical Staff and supporting the day-to-day operations of the local Eye Clinic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive eye care services, including diagnosis, treatment, minor procedures, and coordination of care.
  • Accurately and timely maintain medical records.
  • Conduct field eye clinics to remote areas of the SEARHC region, providing on-the-job training and competency to local Eye Clinic staff.
  • May sponsor Dispensing Optician Apprentices and precept and mentor optometry students.
  • Support departmental compliance with regulatory agencies, accreditation programs, and SEARHC policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) with a current unrestricted Alaska Optometry license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of start.
  • Preferred: Completion of Optometric Residency or Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry or current Optometry Board Certification, or 2 years of clinical optometry experience.
