Job Summary:

The University of Pikeville seeks a highly qualified and experienced professional to assume the position of Assistant/Associate/Professor of Primary Care. This full-time position is under the supervision of the Chair of the Department of Primary Care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach and mentor students in the Department of Primary Care, developing and implementing curriculum to meet the needs of the program.
  • Participate in and recommend curriculum development and evaluation, ensuring alignment with the University's mission and goals.
  • Assist in preparing course materials, including syllabi, objectives, and testing procedures, to ensure a high-quality learning experience.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical services, providing primary care to patients and supervising students in clinical settings.
  • Provide counseling, advising, and guidance to students, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Attend and participate in University events, including commencement, white coat ceremonies, and faculty development programs.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, staying current with best practices in osteopathic medicine and primary care education.

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from a COCA-accredited college/school of osteopathic medicine.
  • Board certification by the American Osteopathic Association or American Board of Medical Specialties in a primary care specialty (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics).
  • Current and unrestricted medical license issued by the state medical board.
  • Current and unrestricted DEA certificate.
  • Teaching experience in an academic setting, with a focus on primary care education.
  • Clinical experience in a primary care setting, with a focus on osteopathic medicine.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with curriculum development and implementation.
  • Experience with clinical research and publication.
  • Experience with teaching and mentoring students in a primary care setting.
