Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Polysomnography Technologist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a Polysomnography Technologist, you will be responsible for performing comprehensive polysomnographic testing, analysis, and associated interventions under the general oversight of a clinician.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interview patients and gather patient history, physical information, medications, procedure requests, and study protocols.
  • Identify and assess any signs, symptoms, special factors, and co-morbid conditions.
  • Provide patient education, communicate procedure, and answer questions to ease apprehension and produce comfort and cooperation.
  • Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning.
  • Document routine observations, including sleep stages, clinical events, procedural changes, and other significant events in order to facilitate interpretation and scoring of polysomnography results.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age-specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education of all age groups.
  • Disinfect and perform preventative maintenance on equipment according to established protocols.
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures regarding safety and infection control issues.
  • Implement appropriate interventions, including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as continuous bi-level positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Current License to practice as a Respiratory Therapist/Polysomnograph Technologist in New York State, and Current Basic Life Support Professional Certification required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience, required.
