Job Title: Construction Observer III

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Observer III to join our team at Souder, Miller & Associates (SMA). As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for coordinating and observing the construction of various projects, ensuring that they are completed in accordance with plans and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and observe the construction of road, bridge, storm sewer, drainage, water, sanitary sewer, and other public or private construction projects.
  • Assist project supervisors in ensuring that construction work is completed in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure that it meets quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of construction work and inspection activities.
  • Review and approve construction materials and equipment.
  • Attend meetings with contractors, clients, and SMA staff to discuss project progress and address any issues.
  • Develop and implement quality control measures to ensure that construction work meets SMA's standards.
  • Collaborate with project engineers and managers to develop and implement project schedules and budgets.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior staff members on construction observation and quality control procedures.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in construction inspection or management.
  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test and have an acceptable motor vehicle record.

Working Environment:

The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with a focus on delivering high-quality construction projects. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
