We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering and Computer Science Librarian to join our team at the University of San Diego's Copley Library. This is a tenure-track faculty position that requires a strong passion for creating and providing library services to Engineering and Computer Science faculty and students.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain a strong collaborative relationship with faculty and students through one-on-one research consultations, collection development, and instruction for undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Teach library research methods classes, course-integrated instruction sessions, online education courses, specialized trainings, and workshops.
- Assist faculty and students with APA style, IEEE, Endnote, altmetrics, impact factors, literature reviews, copyright, publishing opportunities and procedures.
- Collaborate with the embedded librarian cohort and consult with the Digital Initiatives Librarian to promote the library's institutional repository.
- Partner with Engineering faculty and staff, Copley Library faculty, and serve on engineering, library, and university committees.
- ALA accredited MLS or MLIS degree.
- Minimum three years of experience as an Engineering or Computer Science liaison librarian in an academic or research library or corporate setting.
- Knowledgeable of best practices in science and engineering librarianship.
- Strong teaching and presentation skills, with the ability to maintain currency in pedagogical practices and strategies.
- Strong knowledge of engineering literature and scholarly communication practices.
- Adept at using resources to support instruction, including Blackboard, LibGuides, EndNote, and tutorials.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills, with a strong customer service orientation.
- Excellent organizational skills, including time and project management.
- Ability to work collaboratively or independently.
- Passion for working with undergraduate Engineering and Computer Science students.
- Hold an undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, science, or a related field.
- Experience working with Engineers in a specialized library or scientific research community.
- Experience with collection development and serving online students and faculty.
- Familiarity with information literacy outcomes and assessment in the scientific research community.
