Role Summary

  • Oversee the operational functions of the Accounting department, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include recruiting, training, and managing staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; and addressing issues.
  • Manage the Payments team, overseeing functions such as ACH transactions, domestic and international wire transfers, and electronic funds transfers, while ensuring adherence to policies and risk evaluation.
  • Facilitate effective communication, training, coaching, and mentoring for all team members to enhance engagement and ensure alignment with the credit union's goals.
  • Supervise and coordinate month-end processes to guarantee the accuracy of accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, and other financial items necessary for accurate monthly and annual financial reporting.
  • Analyze financial data related to assets, liabilities, and capital, overseeing the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports summarizing the credit union's financial status.
  • Assist in the annual budget preparation by engaging with stakeholders, inputting data, and forecasting costs to ensure accurate calculations of expenditures, income, shares, and loans across various business units.
  • Review and approve all general ledger reconciliations as required, utilizing appropriate tools for this purpose.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to prepare necessary documentation and respond to inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning process for the credit union.
  • Participate in project implementation, providing accounting and operational insights to ensure efficient and effective project completion.
  • Focus on process improvements and innovations.

Education

Experience

Five to ten years of managerial experience in a financial institution, preferably a credit union.
