Position Summary:
As a Certified Medical Assistant specializing in orthopedics, you will play a crucial role in supporting our healthcare professionals and ensuring the seamless operation of our practice. Your responsibilities will encompass both clinical and administrative functions, aimed at fostering a positive experience for our patients.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patient intake processes, including gathering medical histories, measuring vital signs, and documenting information in patient records, with an emphasis on orthopedic conditions.
  • Prepare examination rooms, ensuring they are organized, stocked, and ready for orthopedic assessments and treatments.
  • Assist healthcare providers during orthopedic evaluations and procedures, including casting, splinting, and administering injections.
  • Perform essential clinical tasks related to orthopedic care, such as administering injections, conducting EKGs, and drawing blood samples.
  • Manage laboratory specimen preparations and imaging requests, ensuring accurate documentation and follow-up on orthopedic tests.
  • Educate patients regarding pre- and post-operative care, orthopedic treatment plans, and overall musculoskeletal health.
  • Coordinate patient appointments, manage referrals, and handle correspondence related to orthopedic services.
  • Maintain precise and current patient records, adhering to confidentiality standards and HIPAA regulations.
  • Execute administrative duties, including filing, faxing, and processing medical documentation, with a focus on orthopedic records.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to uphold the highest standards of orthopedic care and operational efficiency.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development in orthopedic medical knowledge and skills.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program is mandatory.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an orthopedic medical office or clinical environment is preferred.
  • Certifications: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification is required; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred.
  • Skills:
    1. Proficient in clinical and administrative tasks pertinent to orthopedic care.
    2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    3. Able to perform effectively in a fast-paced orthopedic setting.
    4. Familiarity with orthopedic terminology, procedures, and basic pharmacology.
    5. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    6. Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
    7. Proficient in medical office software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
    8. Bilingual skills are preferred.
