Job Overview

The ReStore division of Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County is dedicated to generating funds through the sale of donated building materials and household goods. Our mission focuses on recycling efforts, reducing landfill waste, providing affordable home improvement products, and enhancing Habitat's presence within the community.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The ReStore Associate plays a vital role in supporting the Store Manager to ensure that daily operations run smoothly and efficiently. This position is crucial in delivering exceptional experiences to our donors, customers, and volunteers. As a representative of Habitat for Humanity, ReStore Associates are expected to embody the organization's core values consistently. Please note that this role requires the ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver outstanding customer service consistently.
  • Efficiently operate the point of sale system.
  • Assist customers in finding products throughout the store.
  • Ensure timely and professional service for donors.
  • Maintain accurate tracking of donation counts.
  • Assess the condition and pricing of incoming items to ensure they meet ReStore standards.
  • Promptly place cleaned and priced items on the sales floor to enhance the shopping experience.
  • Help maintain cleanliness and safety throughout the ReStore.
  • Support the Warehouse Team Lead in daily dock operations.
  • Promote the mission and values of Habitat for Humanity.
  • Collaborate with the ReStore Manager on improvement projects.
  • Gain knowledge about Habitat for Humanity and effectively communicate our mission to volunteers and customers.
  • Potentially operate material handling equipment as needed.
  • Educate customers on how the ReStore supports Habitat's mission.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

To excel in this role, candidates must successfully perform each essential duty.


The following qualifications are essential:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience with POS systems and cash handling is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Clear and concise communication skills, both internally and externally.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and a positive attitude.
  • Enthusiasm for sharing innovative ideas and initiatives.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position primarily operates in a retail and warehouse setting, which may involve using equipment such as forklifts and other material handling tools. The role may also require working in outdoor conditions that include varying temperatures and noise levels.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • No formal degree is required, but experience in customer service, retail, or related fields is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for the organization's mission are essential.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities are crucial.
  • Regular attendance is expected.
