Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team, focusing on supporting critical missions. This role involves collaborating with a diverse team to design, implement, configure, monitor, and maintain complex systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong team-oriented mindset and a customer-centric approach, as they will interact with various stakeholders and end users.

Work Location: Remote

Compensation and Benefits:

$55-65/hr; Relocation assistance available; Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, retirement plans, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement security protocols as outlined in the security framework, ensuring timely updates and scans of network resources.
  • Manage the provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of production Linux servers within a virtualized environment.
  • Apply compliance controls to safeguard systems and ensure adherence to security standards.
  • Conduct daily monitoring of system performance, security, and resource management for both Linux and Windows platforms.
  • Diagnose and resolve system configuration issues, backup problems, and user access challenges.
  • Support Linux platforms that host various applications and security tools.
  • Collaborate with engineers and subject matter experts to troubleshoot hardware, networking, and software issues.
  • Configure and install operating systems and applications on both physical and virtual machines.
  • Provide on-call support for network and data transmission issues.
  • Maintain and update software documentation as necessary.
  • Participate in peer reviews of software design and development efforts.
  • Work alongside a highly skilled team to conduct evaluation tests.

Qualifications:

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field with 9+ years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with 7+ years of experience. Additional experience may substitute for formal education.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Linux/UNIX System Administration.
  • Must possess a DoD 8570 Level II Certification (e.g., CCNA Security, CySA+, Security+, etc.).
  • Direct experience with network architecture, data flows, firewalls, routers, and switches.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux Red Hat Enterprise and Microsoft Server network protocols.

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies, remote desktop management, and similar tools.
  • Experience with Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco networking equipment, and data management solutions.
  • Knowledge of satellite operations and a proven track record in developing IT strategies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
  • Strong communication skills and project management capabilities.

Security Clearance:

This position is open only to U.S. Citizens with an active Top Secret SCI Clearance. Candidates with TS/SCI and SAP caveat are preferred.
