Job Title: Laboratory Director

At Gritman Medical Center, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Director to lead our laboratory team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our laboratories, ensuring quality and efficiency in all processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Laboratory Management: Oversee the daily operations of the laboratories, ensuring quality and efficiency in all processes.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure laboratories meet all accreditation and regulatory requirements, including JCAHO, CMS, and CLIA standards.
  • Policy Oversight: Develop and enforce technical and administrative policies and procedures.
  • Financial Management: Manage laboratory budgets, optimize costs without sacrificing service quality, and implement capital equipment into operations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with hospital administration, physicians, and clinical staff to enhance performance and patient care.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight to laboratory staff, promoting a positive and efficient work environment.
  • Problem Solving: Partner with the Laboratory Medical Director to resolve technical issues and recommend process improvements.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of general medical laboratory experience, including 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic health records (EHR).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification: ASCP certification preferred.
Functional Demands:
  • Population(s) Served: All patient populations including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
  • Physical Demands: Significant walking and standing in laboratory and patient care areas. May require wearing protective clothing (gloves, lab jackets, face shields, etc.) when handling specimens or interacting with infectious patients. Exposure to blood, body fluids, and chemicals may occur frequently.
Environmental Conditions:
  • Frequent Exposure: Frequent exposure to unpleasant odors from specimens and chemicals. Must be able to tolerate sights and odors associated with medical specimens such as blood, stools, and sputum.
