Transportation Operations Manager

Job Summary:
The Department of the Army is seeking a skilled Transportation Operations Manager to support the planning and execution of unit movements and management of military convoys for all services moving within or passing through the state.
This position requires experience in traffic or transportation programs or operations, as well as knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations concerning transportation and traffic procedures.
The ideal candidate will have excellent negotiation skills, with the ability to make effective presentations both orally and in writing.
The selected individual will be responsible for coordinating with various state departments of transportation to determine highway availability, restrictions, and permit requirements.
They will also be required to process requests for use of the strategic and state highway network within the state, obtain and issue approved permits, and coordinate movements directly with local, state, and federal agencies.
The Transportation Operations Manager will provide technical assistance to the Defense Movement Coordinator with coordination of peacetime and mobilization movements of units using military transportation assets.
They will assist with the preparation, maintenance, and execution of training and contingency movement plans for mobilization, homeland security, and deployment of ARNG units located within the state.
The selected individual will ensure that all requirements necessary to execute the plans have been identified and coordinated.
They will also provide assistance in reviewing and validating Unit Movement Plans (UMP) and Unit Movement Data (UMD) prior to submission to Forces Command (FORSCOM).
Additionally, the Transportation Operations Manager will provide training and assistance to units and activities in the preparation and data entry of associated current federal operating systems.
The selected individual may be required to serve as a Functional Manager for assigned systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with state departments of transportation to determine highway availability, restrictions, and permit requirements

- Coordinate movements directly with local, state, and federal agencies
