Job Title: Loan Support Specialist

The Loan Support Specialist plays a critical role in the Bank of George's loan origination process, working closely with the National Sales Manager, BDOs, Underwriters, and Closers to develop, onboard, and close new loan opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and process SBA 7a, 504, USDA, and other government-guaranteed loan applications.
  • Facilitate the processing of loans through the credit and closing areas.
  • Coordinate SBA and GGL loan applications and provide the SBA credit department with complete packages.
  • Work with the SBA BDO team and National SBA Sales Manager to prepare complete loan packages for presentation to credit.
  • Review and submit loan packages to credit, ensuring all items from the minimum critical checklist are included and all documents are current and signed.
  • Coordinate directly with customers to retrieve additional information or clarify information throughout the loan process.
  • Maintain accurate information within the bank's loan origination system by managing and uploading various documents and keeping current the terms, stages, dates, and other relevant data points.
  • Provide complete and accurate loan packages to Underwriting, including an advanced understanding of the documentation needed for different loan types.
  • Support SBA Underwriters and Closers in obtaining any missing or needed items to ensure a timely and successful approval and loan closing.
  • Maintain constant contact with borrowers, sellers, brokers, and other related parties on the status of the loan and missing or required information still needed by the Bank.
  • Obtain contact information on third-party vendors related to each loan file.
  • Manage the adverse action process.
  • Advise management of current activities and any significant issues.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree (BA) or equivalent from a college or university, and 1 year customer service experience or relevant work experience and/or training.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of financial institution departments and activities.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service via phone, email, and in-person and excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must possess the ability to set priorities, manage tasks, and meet critical deadlines.
  • Microsoft Office suite required with strong Excel skills.
  • Must possess accurate keyboard, spelling, and grammar skills as well as superior written and oral communication skills.
  • Some travel may be required for this position.
