Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Child Development Specialist to join our team at Spectrum Center Schools and Programs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students and their families.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing individualized counseling and support to students, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential. As a key member of our education team, you will work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes academic success and personal growth.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one counseling sessions to help students address interpersonal or family problems that affect their school performance.
  • Collaborate with educators and other professionals to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Positive Behavior Intervention Plans (PBIPs).
  • Conduct interviews with students, parents, and school personnel to assess student social, emotional, and behavioral adjustment to school and the community.
  • Maintain regular contact with parents/guardians to inform them of their child's progress, areas of difficulty, and any changes in home life that may affect school performance.
Requirements
  • Master's degree or higher in educational counseling, therapy, social work, or a related field.
  • State and district requirements for appropriate licensing or credentials.
  • Prior experience working with students with emotional disorders and challenging behaviors in an education or classroom setting.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, instruction, curriculum, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making ability.

Estimated Salary

$65,000 - $85,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
