Job Summary

The Asphalt Paving Superintendent will oversee the coordination and supervision of asphalt paving operations, ensuring the safe and efficient completion of projects. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to read and comprehend plans and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management
    • Coordinate and supervise asphalt paving operations to ensure timely completion of projects.
    • Develop and implement project plans, including resource allocation and scheduling.
  • Team Leadership
    • Supervise and train crew members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
    • Provide guidance and support to team members to ensure they are working safely and efficiently.
  • Quality Control
    • Ensure that all work meets quality standards and specifications.
    • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Safety and Compliance
    • Ensure that all crew members are following safety protocols and procedures.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Communication
    • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and other team members.
    • Provide regular project updates and reports to management.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in asphalt paving operations or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend plans and specifications.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including days, nights, and weekends.
  • Ability to type and use keyboards accurately and possess knowledge of database software.
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to keep time and material records.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills and attributes.
