Position SummaryThis position is accountable for overseeing the daily functions of an industrial wastewater treatment facility, including all related equipment and chemical treatment processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and operate the wastewater treatment system to ensure compliance with the facility's discharge permit.
- Conduct data analysis and sample testing to meet regulatory standards.
- Diagnose and repair pumps, drive units, reducers, and valves associated with plant operations.
- Interpret equipment manuals for maintenance and service; plan repairs using diagrams and schematics.
- Possess knowledge of total suspended solids (TSS), turbidity, pH, and other chemical reactions to make necessary operational adjustments.
- Calibrate pH probes and maintain accurate documentation in the logbook.
- Communicate effectively with the Wastewater Superintendent regarding any operational issues.
- Keep detailed records of all plant activities and operations.
- Track chemical inventories and waste disposal activities daily.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety protocols.
- Perform maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
- Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in operating and maintaining wastewater treatment systems.
- Preferred: Wastewater and/or Water Operator Certification.
- Willingness to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Ability to read, write, and analyze data and reports effectively.
- Strong mechanical skills and aptitude are essential.
- Commitment to safety in the workplace.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Physical capability to stand, walk, and lift over 50 pounds as required.
- Ability to work in varying temperature conditions and confined spaces.
