Job Summary

Compass Minerals is seeking a highly skilled Magnesium Chloride Production Operator to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient production of magnesium chloride products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assure that all safety protocols are followed and maintained, including safe work permits, equipment checklists, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Operate equipment and complete tasks in the MgCl2 processing and DE sulfating areas, including bagging and loading operations.
  • Ensure that quality parameters for MgCl2 flake and brine are met, and that lab samples are taken and delivered to the quality control lab as required.
  • Complete daily sample analyses and equipment checks, and write work orders for corrective actions.
  • Maintain 6S standards and utilize audits to continuously improve processes.
  • Fulfill day-to-day responsibilities, including filling in for the day shift supervisor or operating positions as needed.
  • Oversee the operation of the highway brine production process and ensure that products are stored correctly and inventory is accurate.
  • Conduct monthly safety inspections and ensure that safety observations are completed as required.
  • Maintain accuracy and timeliness for department KPIs.
Requirements
  • High school diploma and previous experience or education demonstrating ability to effectively oversee assigned area of responsibility.
  • PC literacy and proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access to analyze and communicate information.
  • Ability to navigate an ERP system to issue work requests and review inventory.
  • Demonstrated competencies in interpersonal skills, written communication, planning and organizing, professionalism, quality, and mathematical and reasoning ability.
Working Conditions

The physical demands of this role include sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 80 pounds occasionally. The employee must be able to walk on wet and uneven surfaces, climb stairs and/or ladders to tanks and platforms.
