Paramedic - Emergency Department Specialist

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a highly skilled Paramedic to join our Emergency Department team. As a Paramedic, you will provide emergency treatment, including advanced life support, to patients in emergencies. You will assess the urgent medical needs of patients and stabilize their conditions.
Key Responsibilities- Provide duties that assist in providing patient care in the Emergency Department under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Obtain and record vital signs.
- Perform EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy and oral, nasal and ET suctioning.
- Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy and saline locks.
- Notify the RN and/or physician of rhythm changes.
- Apply orthopaedic appliances and simple splints.
- Size crutches and teach crutch walking.
- Assist with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, LP, etc.
- Assist with restraint and seclusion of patients and apply restraint devices.
- Transport patients and specimens.
- Assist with sterile procedures and cleaning and maintaining supplies and equipment.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect patient privacy.
- Perform fluid/drug administration.
- Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic training program.
- Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within one year of start date in the Emergency Department.
- Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic training program.
- International Trauma Life Support (ITLS).
- One year of experience as an EMT-P.
