Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Materials Instructor and Lab Leader to join our team at the Minnesota Department of Transportation. This is a unique opportunity to work with a variety of instructional materials and deliver high-quality training to certified technicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and deliver instructional materials for the Technical Certification Program (TCP) to ensure certified technicians are qualified to sample, test, and inspect roadway materials.
  • Prepare the new Training Center labs and classrooms for TCP classes and serve as lead lab instructor for Lab Sessions.
  • Work with District staff statewide to promote uniformity and consistency for the Quality Assurance Program.
  • Collaborate with materials specialists, outside agencies, and other specialists to keep educational materials current and effective.
Requirements
  • Three years of para-engineering experience that demonstrates expertise in construction, materials specifications, and field inspection practices.
  • Experience with quality assurance, quality control sampling and testing methods.
  • Experience working with the State's Independent Assurance inspectors.
  • Experience in providing instruction and coaching.
  • Experience with databases and Microsoft Office products, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Certification in the following: Aggregate Production Tester, Bituminous Plant Tester, Concrete Field Tester, and Grading & Base Tester.
