Overview of the Unit
The 3E/G unit at Spectrum Health is a distinctive collaborative environment that merges two specialized areas into one cohesive team. The 3E section accommodates 24 beds for Medical/Surgical patients, including those with orthopedic needs, while the 3G section focuses on 22 beds dedicated to patients undergoing Total Joint Replacement procedures. Our dedicated team provides a diverse range of patient care experiences, including but not limited to Total Joint Replacement, Hip Fracture management, Osteomyelitis treatment, and various medical cases. The nursing staff on the 3EG team participates in a renowned Joint Replacement program, recognized nationally for its excellence, serving approximately 2,800 patients annually. This program has achieved and sustained Joint Replacement Disease Specific Certification from the Joint Commission, reflecting our commitment to delivering superior care. Nurses typically manage 3-5 patients during day shifts and 3-6 patients during night shifts.

Responsibilities
As a vital member of the healthcare team, you will assist in delivering quality patient care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. Your role will involve performing essential skills in accordance with departmental protocols and effectively communicating observations to the healthcare team. You will be responsible for collecting and reporting on the physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs of patients and their families, as directed by the RN or Provider. Key responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, managing blood sugar levels, assisting with personal hygiene, facilitating patient mobility, providing wound care, catheterization, and serving as a safety attendant for patients. Accurate and timely documentation of all required information is essential.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC is required within 90 days of employment.
Work Schedule
This position is part-time, with variable shifts and a core schedule spanning six weeks. Weekend shifts are required every third weekend.
