Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Kitchen Prep Cook to join our team at Brookshire Grocery Company. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food to exact specifications, maintaining stock levels, and ensuring product quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow established recipes to ensure consistency in quality, taste, and presentation.
  • Assist kitchen personnel with cooking, slicing, weighing, packaging, labeling, pricing, and maintaining product displays.
  • Adhere to quality control and food safety standards by stocking and rotating prepared foods.
  • Stack pallets and sort product into correct locations according to Company efficiency standards and expectations.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary working environment by adhering to Company safety procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and taking special order requests.
  • Promote product sales through suggestive selling initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Basic mathematical skills for following recipes.
  • Ability to safely operate hazardous tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read and operate digital equipment, meters, dials, and/or calibrated scales.
  • Ability to learn new systems, methods, or processes.
  • Ability to use precision and non-precision hand tools.
  • Ability to work well with fellow partners and promote a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with partners and customers.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • Food Handler certification required.
  • Typically involves on-the-job training.

  • Continuously required to use hands for reaching, touching, or handling.
  • Continuously required to talk and hear.
