Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Custodian to join our team at Jefferson County Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of custodial staff to ensure efficient and effective cleaning and maintenance of facilities.
  • Develop and implement cleaning schedules and procedures to meet the needs of the school.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations and effective communication.
  • Develop and implement safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Provide training and guidance to custodial staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Monitor and report on custodial operations, including budget and resource allocation.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience in custodial or facilities maintenance, with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle.
  • Ability to work in locations involving heights or confined spaces, and to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Ability to read and follow plans, directions, and layouts for custodial projects.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions

The Head Custodian will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. The position requires the ability to work in a variety of settings, including classrooms, hallways, and outdoor areas. The successful candidate will be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and exert up to 75 pounds of force as needed.
