Medical Assistant

Overview:
The Medical Assistant (MA) plays a vital role in maintaining efficient patient flow and delivering quality care at Kelly H Roy MD PC. Working under the direction of the Lead MA/Clinic Admin, the MA collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care in a nonjudgmental manner.
Responsibilities:
- Support all functions within their scope of care as a Medical Assistant.
- Assist with intake, financial screening, scheduling, and setup for patient visits.
- Participate in training on health education, policies, and procedures, as well as laboratory services.
- Assist with medication refill requests, specialty and procedure referrals, pre- and post-clinic chart review.
- Review charts, lab test results, and encounter forms for completeness and to assess follow-up as needed.
- Collaborate with the Preventative Health Coordinator and Immunization Coordinator to follow up on missed appointments, reminder calls, lost to care calls, and high-risk referrals.
- Work with other clinic staff to improve patient outcomes and participate in quality improvement activities using the PDSA model.
- Perform other administrative tasks and clinical care as assigned by the Lead MA/ECA.
- Support the coordination of inventory, ordering, and supply stock maintenance of medical supplies.
- Assist with daily and monthly quality assurance reviews, including emergency kit checks.
Requirements:
Minimum Position Requirements:
Education & Experience:
College or trade school education, high school diploma, or equivalent. Completion of a certified medical assistant training program is required. Phlebotomy certification is a plus. A minimum of one year of experience in an outpatient medical clinic or hospital, medical office setting is preferred.
Special Skills/Equipment:
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Ability to perform phlebotomy and basic laboratory duties. Must provide proof of a current driver's license and auto insurance. Demonstrates the skills to provide age-appropriate care to clients of the clinic. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to interpret information relative to the patient's age-related needs.

Must have excellent written and oral skills, strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Must have the ability to multitask, manage priorities, and workflow. Required to have versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm and have acute attention to detail. Able to operate computer software with training. Expected to have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to understand and follow written/verbal instructions. Able to work independently with little or no supervision. Required to have the ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels and with external customers.
