Job Summary:

To provide effective support to the classroom teacher in the implementation of the instructional programs of the school. The ideal candidate will be able to assist in creating a conducive learning environment and provide input for assessing student progress.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the teacher in implementing programs of study that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
Help maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
Provide feedback to learners about their academic progress and behavior.
Assist in enforcing reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintaining order in the classroom.

Requirements:

Qualify for a Paraprofessional Certificate by either holding an Associate Degree or higher or 90 college quarter hours or 60 semester hours or pass the assessment test for paraprofessionals (GACE).
Certification in middle school English Language Arts preferred.

Skills:

Ability to organize, direct, and control small and large groups of children in a variety of activities and settings.
Ability to adjust to changing conditions and situations.

Experience:

Experience in working with and directing the activities of children, preferably in education.
