Position Overview
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in agriculture sustainability and climate resilience, showcasing innovative thinking and practical experience. We are particularly interested in candidates who excel in two primary areas: 1) Exceptional writing and communication skills aimed at translating complex technical concepts into accessible public information; 2) Proven experience with greenhouse gas modeling, water quality modeling, and other environmental tools pertinent to agricultural sustainability challenges. Candidates with a history of independently tackling innovative and complex problems will be given special consideration.
The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to work autonomously, apply logical reasoning to reach technical conclusions, and convey results in a manner easily understood by diverse audiences. Proficiency in independently developing and preparing technical reports with moderate guidance is essential. Additional skills in project management, grant pursuit, and familiarity with geospatial analysis techniques are highly desirable. Experience in projects or studies related to water quality issues concerning streams and lakes is advantageous. Occasional travel may be required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., agriculture, bioproducts and biosystems, water resources, ecological engineering).
- A minimum of five years of professional experience addressing environmental challenges related to agricultural sustainability.
- Preference will be given to candidates who can effectively communicate complex scientific information to broad audiences through written documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel), computer modeling, databases, and GIS; in-depth knowledge of GIS applications in scientific contexts is preferred.
- Experience in communicating environmental outcomes to agricultural stakeholders.
- Valid Driver's License in good standing.
