Job Title: Registered Medication Aide

We are seeking a qualified and self-motivated Registered Medication Aide to join our team at Friendship Retirement Community.

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. As a Registered Medication Aide, you will be responsible for dispensing resident medications, documenting medications on the MAR, and assisting residents with daily activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Dispense resident medications as indicated by individual care plan schedules
  • Document medications on the MAR, including PRN's and their effectiveness
  • Assist residents with daily activities, such as getting in and out of bed, grooming, meals, dressing, and other assigned ADL's
  • Complete monthly resident summaries, noting changes in development or care needs
  • Evaluate and record vital signs, BP, TPR's, and WT's
  • Submit medications for reorder each shift, as needed
  • Follow all infection control policies, procedures, and processes before, during, and after performing any service for a resident
  • Ensure changes in resident condition, including injuries of an unknown source and skin tears, are reported to the DON as a mandated reporter
  • Assist with basic clean-up of resident rooms, emptying trash, gathering soiled linens and clothing for laundry
  • Encourage residents to participate in activities and assist with activities as needed
  • Participate in fire drills and emergency preparedness activities per facility policy
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations to maintain resident confidentiality
Qualifications:
  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching all day
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
  • Must have knowledge of and an interest in geriatrics, and must have a good understanding of medical terminology
  • Be able to follow written and oral instructions
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Adult First Aid/CPR and AED certification
  • Registered Medication Aide certification, in accordance with the laws of the state
  • Certified Nurse Aide in the state of Virginia or NA Certificate
  • Experience in a long-term care/nursing facility preferred
