Job Title: Grant Writer

The Grant Writer is a key role at Insight Global, responsible for developing and writing compelling grant proposals to secure funding for the organization's programs and initiatives. This individual will conduct research to identify funding opportunities, craft persuasive proposals, and manage the grant application process, including maintaining healthy relationships with funders.

Key Responsibilities:Research and Identification:
  • Participate in strategic planning activities to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive grant-seeking strategy.
  • Successfully identifies and evaluates grant opportunities that align with Insight Global's mission and funding needs.
  • Develops a comprehensive database of potential funding sources, including foundations, government agencies, corporate sponsors, charitable trusts, associations, and other special interest groups and organizations.
  • Attend meetings, workshops, and conferences to network with funders and stay informed about industry trends.
  • Stays updated on trends in philanthropy and changes in funding priorities to identify new opportunities.
Proposal Development:
  • Demonstrates knowledge of government grant rules and processes, ensuring compliance with specific requirements for government funding sources.
  • Work with finance and program staff to develop accurate and realistic budgets for grant proposals.
  • Ensure that budgets align with program needs and funder requirements.
  • Develops high-quality, persuasive grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding requests that effectively communicate the organization's needs, programs, and impact.
  • Tailors proposals to meet the specific requirements, guidelines, and priorities of each funder.
  • Collaborates with program staff to gather accurate and compelling information and data for inclusion in proposals.
  • Stays updated on changes in government funding priorities and regulations to ensure proposals meet current standards.
Grant Management:
  • Ensures timely and accurate submission of grant applications and maintains organized records of all grant-related activities, awards, and related correspondence.
  • Track and monitor the status of submitted proposals, follow up with funders as needed, and provide updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor grant expenditures and ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines.
  • Maintains a detailed calendar of grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and renewal opportunities.
  • Manages relationships with funders to ensure ongoing compliance and successful grant renewals.
Reporting and Compliance:
  • Prepares comprehensive reports for funders and internal stakeholders, detailing program achievements, financial expenditures, and overall impact.
  • Ensure compliance with all grant requirements and regulations.
  • Collects and analyzes data to measure the impact of funded programs and communicates results to funders.
  • Ensures accurate and timely submission of all required reports and documentation.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Fosters strong relationships with funders and internal stakeholders to support the grant writing process and fundraising goals.
  • Works closely with the Director of Food Programs to align grant writing efforts with overall fundraising strategies and goals.
  • Engages with government representatives and other funding bodies to build relationships and identify potential funding opportunities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, English, Communications, or a related field
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Proven track record of successful grant proposals and securing funding.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in grant writing or a related role, preferably in a nonprofit setting.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with grant management software and tools.
