OPPORTUNITY


As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) plays a pivotal role in steering the financial strategy and oversight of Edgility Consulting's financial operations.

The CFO collaborates closely with the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, and Board of Directors to provide insightful financial analysis and guidance that supports organizational priorities, fundraising efforts, and strategic planning.

This role requires a visionary financial leader who can partner effectively with board members and senior management, delivering the financial insights necessary for informed decision-making that ensures the organization's sustainability and growth.

The CFO will also lead a skilled finance team, fostering professional development and growth within the department.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities of the Chief Financial Officer include:
Accounting & Administration


Oversee the finance department's functions to ensure the integrity of all accounting systems and processes; manage the finance team effectively.

Coordinate the management of diverse revenue streams.

Ensure the establishment of robust internal controls and financial protocols.


Guarantee the accuracy and compliance of financial reporting for various stakeholders, including funders and the Board of Directors.

Facilitate audits and ensure timely filing of necessary financial documents.

Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory standards concerning all financial operations.

Enhance the capacity of department leaders to manage their budgets effectively.

Finance

Supervise cash flow management, investment strategies, and banking relationships.

Build and maintain relationships with Board members, public agency representatives, auditors, and financial partners.


Oversee contract management, ensuring compliance and accuracy for all agreements, and manage outsourcing of financial functions as required.

Develop and implement financial policies to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

Facilitate the preparation and presentation of monthly financial reports and annual budget forecasts.

Lead annual financial audits in collaboration with the Board Audit Committee.

Strategic Leadership


Oversee all fiscal responsibilities in partnership with the CEO and Board Committees.

Set strategic direction for the Board's Finance and Audit Committees.

Lead the vision for long-term financial planning, forecasting, and asset management.


Utilize predictive financial models and analyses to provide insights into organizational operations and strategic initiatives.

Evaluate financial implications of potential growth opportunities.

Develop and maintain the annual budget and multi-year financial plans to ensure the organization's financial health.


Continuously enhance the quality and effectiveness of financial operations and internal controls; establish and monitor financial goals and metrics.

People Management & Development


Ensure that finance team members are equipped to excel in their roles and have a fulfilling work experience.

Oversee recruitment, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and professional development of the finance team.

Encourage ongoing learning and development by identifying areas for team growth and collaboration.


Foster a positive team culture that connects tasks to the organization's mission and promotes accountability and recognition of achievements.

Board Relations & Reporting


Provide regular updates on the organization's financial performance to the Board of Directors, including budget performance, forecasts, and financial risks.

Represent the organization at various events and meetings, offering financial insights and support as needed.

Planning, Policy & Funder Relations

Collaborate with program management to develop and monitor budgets and financial plans;

Participate in policy development as part of the executive team;

Work with the CEO to engage the Board Finance Committee in developing financial plans and projections;

Lead annual financial audits in partnership with the Board Audit Committee;


Represent the organization to financial partners, including institutions, funders, and auditors.

Risk Management

Establish and maintain a comprehensive risk management framework.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for the Chief Financial Officer role will possess:

A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; an MBA and/or CPA is preferred.


At least 10 years of experience in financial management or accounting, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior finance role.

Experience in financial management for non-profit organizations at the CFO or senior management level is strongly preferred.

A strategic mindset with the operational expertise to drive performance.


A proven track record in financial management, including developing and implementing financial strategies, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance.

Strong leadership and management skills with experience in building and leading high-performing teams and a passion for mentoring others.

Exceptional attention to detail and quality assurance.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
