As a member of our Behavior Team, you will engage with a diverse urban dog population, utilizing a reinforcement-based and "force-free" methodology. Common behavioral challenges include leash reactivity, resource guarding, hyperarousal, separation anxiety, and aggression towards dogs and humans, including some bite cases. You should be adept at instructing and mentoring in both individual and group formats, service-oriented, and adaptable while remaining committed to positive reinforcement techniques.


DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES

To maintain a healthy work-life balance, this training role typically involves working 2-3 days each week for approximately hours, including at least one weekend day. Trainers may also need to be available for evening sessions.

As a crucial member of our Behavior Team, you will work with an urban dog population, applying reinforcement-based strategies in both individual and group environments. Your responsibilities will include addressing behavioral issues, conducting group obedience classes, private training sessions, and ensuring the effective delivery of our services from lodging to potty and crate training. Additionally, you will assist in sales initiatives, communicate effectively with clients regarding their pets' needs, document training plans, and provide ongoing updates to pet owners.


QUALIFICATIONS FOR DOG COACH - TRAINER

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of dog training experience and knowledge
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and OS operating systems
  • Ability to meet the physical demands typical of this role and train active dogs of various sizes

Certification from CCPDT or IAABC is preferred, but we will consider a dedicated pre-certification trainer working towards these qualifications. Your approach to training is what truly matters - please be prepared to discuss recent cases with our interview panel.
