Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at the University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center Downtown. As a Senior Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing complex radiographic and mammography procedures, providing exceptional patient care, and collaborating with radiologists and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform high-quality diagnostic medical sonography procedures, including mammography, ultrasound, and other imaging modalities.
  • Assist radiologists with imaging procedures and invasive procedures, such as breast needle localization.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history, physical examination, and imaging procedures.
  • Develop and implement individualized patient care plans, taking into account patient needs and preferences.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including patient safety and satisfaction.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest imaging technologies and techniques, attending continuing education courses and workshops as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Radiation Sciences or a related field.
  • CAAHEP-accredited or equivalent program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography, or Vascular Technology.
  • Extensive experience (3-5 years) in diagnostic medical sonography, with a strong background in mammography and ultrasound.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or other nationally recognized accreditation organizations.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience providing clinical education to students and sonographers, as well as residents.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Radiation Sciences is highly desirable.
  • Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology Advanced Certification in Mammography.
