Job Title: Unit Service Assistant Labor

Mount Sinai Medical Center of Florida is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Unit Service Assistant Labor to join our team in the Labor and Delivery department.

Job Summary:

The Unit Service Assistant Labor will provide exceptional patient care and support services to our patients and families in the Labor and Delivery unit. This role will work closely with our nursing team to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for our patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Clean patient rooms after vaginal deliveries, separating and removing waste as per policy.
  • Clean operating rooms after each case and perform terminal cleaning as per policy.
  • Transport specimens, using specimen logbook in a timely manner.
  • Transport and discharge patients in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to Standard Precautions in the performance of daily activities.
  • Clean wheelchairs after each patient use.
  • Pass and pick up meal trays as requested.
  • Monitor use of cleaning supplies, advise supervisor with reordering needs.
  • Maintain linen cart organized, neat, and covered.
  • Maintain cleanliness of patient pantry areas, lounges, restrooms, call rooms, and offices daily.
  • Be knowledgeable and adhere to infant abduction prevention program.
  • Follow Bereavement policy. Transport body to the morgue and log it in.
  • Take blood specimens as needed.
  • During emergencies, make themselves readily available to take specimens or obtain supplies as needed.
  • Adhere to standard precautions in the performance of daily activities.
  • Check formula expiration dates and remove expired formula from the shelf.
  • Monitor supplies for par levels and notify nurse of low par levels.
  • Clean incubators and radiant warmers as per policy.
  • Monitor and maintain supplies for handwashing in the unit as well as at the point of entry to the unit.
  • Maintain cleanliness of patient areas, lounges, restrooms, breast pump rooms, and offices daily.
  • Monitor par levels of blankets and gowns and notify linen services of low par levels.
  • All other tasks as related to the position duties.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • 1 year of experience within a healthcare environment, preferably within Maternal/Child Units
